Auburn Public Schools and its individual schools have been rated Great or higher by the Nebraska Department of Education since the ratings started in 2015.
Auburn High School was named the 2018 Life of an Athlete New Program of the Year. The school's "The Bulldog Way" initiative focuses on building a championship culture in all areas within APS. The Bulldog Way extends beyond athletics to include academics, fine arts, and character within the school. The student leadership council and sponsors traveled to Lake Placid, New York to receive the award and present to the workshop attendees.

In 2017/18, Auburn Public Schools was named the top rural school in the State of Nebraska for closing the achievement gap in math and science.
In 2015, Auburn was featured in a presentation at the United Nations on Educational Technologies Available for Primary and Secondary Schools - DPI-NGO Briefing. Auburn Public Schools and its individual buildings are consistently rated amongst the best in Nebraska by national ratings sites (US News and World Report, GreatSchools, Niche, School Digger).
